One-month-old Vlad and Elektra were really getting the hang of the whole 'how to be a kitten' thing. Their ears were fully unfolded and their walking (...and running) was getting much more coordinated. Their personalities were developing as they ventured further away from M. Elektra's sweet and innocent nature, coupled with Vlad's sassy no fear heroics, made for some fun times!
There are so many excellent pictures of them (thanks Jason Putsché Photography!), it was hard to choose! Here are a few of my favs:
Elektra looking coy before darting out of their pen for some playtime.
This toy lasted only a week or so before it was disassembled into short sections of green rattan peices. It was fun while it lasted though!
That face! <3
This blanket was not only a comfy place to nap, it was also an excellent backdrop for kitten portraits. Doesn't Elektra look lovely?
Elektra loved her mom and M loved all her kittens, but I think Hugo still takes the cake for being the biggest mama's boy!
She preferred to sit on the path and wait for someone to come collect her, instead of walking towards the camera like her siblings did.
Action shot of Vlad! Pre-sprint and pounce.
And now the kitten strut.
Vlad takes new experiences in stride - nothing phased her!
Notice the same determined glint in her eye... Vlad is one focused kitten!

VLAD.
Somehow, this photo of Vlad at three weeks old slipped through the cracks; I meant to include it in the last post! Definitely couldn't leave it out, though. This pose and expression sums tough little Vlad up in a nutshell - fierce, unafraid, daring the world to bring it.

Vlad and Elektra pt. 2
Three-week-old Vlad and Elektra were adorable. Their eyes were wide open but still baby blue, their ears were not quite fully unfolded yet, and they were beginning to get a handle on that tricky thing called walking. Here's a few of my favorite photos of the girls from their three week photo shoot:
Sometimes even in a litter of kittens, pair bonds will form. Funny how the girls paired up together, and the boys paired up together. They would of course all play together, but I often found Elektra and Vlad exploring or playing somewhere, and Hugo and Randy off doing some other kitten activity. Here's Vlad and Elektra taking a snuggle break on a favorite towel.
Elektra had (and has!) the cutest little face! Here eyes always seemed too big for her, and made her look extra innocent. Although, to be honest, she was probably the most angelic of all M's kittens!
Vlad always seemed to have better things to do that be held. Namely, exploring everything she could and playing with toys and her siblings! Definitely one of the most fearless and adventurous kittens I've ever fostered!
This photo of Elektra continues to be one of my favorites from any photo shoot. (Good job, Jason and Ella!) Elektra just looks so stinking cute, and it's not just a trick of the camera - she's even cuter in real life.
Next up: Elektra and Vlad at the one month milestone!

Vlad and Elektra?
Some of you may be wondering why little misses Elektra and Vlad haven't been making appearances on Kittenpalooza lately. Well, dear readers, I have happy news, and happiest news.
Yep, that's right folks, Vlad and Elektra went to their forever home two weeks ago, and they went there together! It was a very serendipitous, actually. An employee at my vet's office casually mentioned that she was looking for kittens - preferably, a sibling pair. My heart sped up a notch as I said, 'I have kitten siblings for adoption...' And the rest is pretty much history. Happy, happiest, history.
While I'm always a bit sad to see foster kittens go, it's always so fun and rewarding to see them go to such perfect homes. Their new mom is just fantastic, and I'm sure they'll have tons of fun together. Their new home has lots of wicker in it (durable and good for scratching, I hear), and even a carpeted spiral staircase and balcony! Vlad and Elektra will be racing up and down that in no time flat! The girls share their new home with a mature cat, so it's even more awesome that Vlad and Elektra have each other to keep themselves occupied and entertained.
This week's posts will take a look back at sweet little Elektra, and bold adventurous Vladimira. We'll start with photos from their very first photo session with Jason Putsché Photography, when they were just one week old!
Tiny Elektra had the most striking dark stripes from day one, and she only got cuter as the days went by.
Little Vlad, fearless from the start!
During this particular photo shoot, M preferred to always have her kittens in sight. She came out to check on Elektra and proceeded to carry her back to their nest.
It's so fun to see Vlad as such a tiny little thing, especially knowing what a spunky outgoing girl she grew up to be!
